Our House of Encounter

Our house is not just an ordinary place for us.
It is something we have been building step by step – with time, dedication, and faith.

We believe that God has given us the assignment to create a space
where people are allowed to arrive.
A place where you can laugh and cry.
A place where healing can happen – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Many people have come and gone through this house.
And again and again we hear:
👉 “This time was a blessing.”
👉 “I was able to find rest here.”
👉 “I encountered God in a new way.”

❤️ Our Heart for You

When you come to stay with us, you are not just a guest.
For this time, you are part of our family.

We share our home, our daily life – and sometimes also our hearts.
We value real connection, meaningful conversations, shared meals,
and sometimes even time in prayer together.

At the same time, we believe:
A healthy community needs respect, awareness, and clarity.

🌿 A Home – Not a Hotel

This house does not function like a hotel.

It lives from everyone taking a bit of responsibility.
From not only receiving, but also giving.
From noticing what is needed –
and becoming part of the whole.

Some people stay for a few days,
others for several weeks or during a transition in life.

No matter how long you stay:
👉 We desire a way of living together that works for everyone.

🤝 Community with Healthy Boundaries

We are open to people – and to their stories.
And we are happy to listen.

At the same time, we have learned:
It is important that responsibility remains with each individual.

So when you share something, you are welcome to ask yourself:
👉 What do I need right now – someone to listen, advice, or simply space?

Healthy community grows where there is genuine interest in one another –
not only in one’s own life.

🕊 Spaces with Meaning

In our house, there are spaces for connection –
and spaces for retreat.

The prayer room is a special place for us.
A place of stillness, alignment, and also our personal retreat.

It may be used upon request –
but we ask that it is treated with respect and care.

🔑 Clarity Creates Peace

Over time, we have learned:
Misunderstandings rarely come from bad intentions –
but often from a lack of clarity.

That’s why we have defined some practical guidelines.
Not to restrict,
but so that everyone can feel safe and comfortable.

These include things like:

  • treating each other with respect
  • being mindful with resources (water, electricity, heating)
  • keeping shared spaces in order
  • and living together with awareness

💛 Giving and Receiving

We open our home very intentionally.

That’s why it is important to us that the relationship is not one-sided.
That it’s not only about receiving, but also about giving back –
in whatever way is possible.

This can look different for everyone:

  • helping in everyday tasks
  • contributing to shared costs
  • cooking together
  • small gestures of appreciation

Not everyone has the same possibilities –
and that’s okay.

What matters is the heart behind it.

⏳ Time That Serves – and Has Limits

Some stays happen spontaneously.
Others are planned intentionally.

After about a week, we take time to check in together:
👉 Does this still feel right for everyone?

Because as beautiful as community is –
it also requires a sense of
when something is aligned…
and when it might be time to move on.

🌸 While You Are Here…

We desire that you:

  • feel welcome
  • find rest
  • can recharge
  • experience real connection

And at the same time,
be willing to become part of an existing community.

🙏 Our Heartbeat

Ultimately, this house does not belong to us.

We believe it is a place
that God uses to meet people.

And if you find yourself here for a part of your journey,
then it is not by coincidence.

House Rules – Welcome to Our Home

We are very happy that you are here. This house is more than just a place to live for us – it is a place of community, of encountering God, and of real life. Here you are allowed to laugh and cry, to find rest, and simply be yourself.

At the same time, this house is not a hotel, but a shared home for a season. So that everyone feels comfortable and to avoid misunderstandings, we have summarized our most important values and guidelines for you here.

❤️ Our Heart for Community

  • During your stay, you are part of our family
  • We value a short daily check-in with each other
  • Shared time (meals, conversations, prayer) is welcome – but always voluntary

Communication & Living Together:

  • Please address problems directly and honestly
→ don’t let things build up, but clarify them in a timely manner
  • A respectful way of interacting is important to us:
    • Greeting each other (Good morning / Good night / Goodbye)
    • Being friendly with neighbors
    • Being considerate (e.g. asking before joining someone)

Sharing Personal Topics:

  • When you share something, you are welcome to ask yourself:
→ What do I need right now? Someone to listen, advice, or simply space?
  • We are happy to listen and support –
but we are not a permanent problem-solving place
  • A healthy community means:
→ interest in each other – not only in one’s own topics

🚪 Privacy & Spaces

  • This house is our home – privacy is important to us
  • In general:
→ If you enter a room where someone is, please briefly ask if it’s okay

Prayer Room:

  • Is a private retreat space for the homeowners
  • Use only upon request
  • Books may be looked at or read
  • Everything else should be treated as private

👉 Fixed times:

  • Do not enter between 5:00 – 7:30 a.m.
  • Also not during patient sessions in the kitchen (house is very sound-sensitive)

Kitchen as a Workspace:

  • I often work at the dining table
  • The kitchen can generally be used at any time

👉 Exception:

  • During patient sessions → the kitchen is not accessible (this will be communicated)

🛏 Guest Room – Your Space for a Time

  • Please make your own bed and strip it before leaving
  • Bring used bed linen to the basement (washing machine)
  • Keep your room clean – cleaning supplies are provided
  • For longer stays: regular cleaning is expected

👉 Important: You will receive a short cleaning briefing at the beginning

🚿 Bathroom – Mindful Use

  • Please leave it clean
  • Only use the special cleaner for the stone sink

Showering:

  • 80L boiler (eco mode)
  • Short showers → enough hot water for everyone
  • If hot water runs out → reheating takes up to 3 hours

👉 Therefore:

  • No long “wellness showers”
  • Longer showers only:
    • with consideration for others
    • and with a higher contribution to costs

Washing Hair:

  • Not in the upstairs sink (wooden shelf is sensitive!)
  • Alternative: bathtub in the basement

Windows:

  • Please close upstairs and roof windows when it rains

🔥 Heating & Energy – Use Responsibly

  • Wood stoves may only be used after instruction
  • Do not place objects on the stove (fire hazard!)
  • 23 °C is sufficient for us

Energy & Water:

  • Avoid unnecessary water use
  • Always unplug devices (chargers, hairdryer, etc.)
  • Unplug kettle after use
  • Never place your phone on the induction stove

🕯 Safety

  • No candles upstairs
  • No scented candles in the entire house
  • Fire bowl only together with us

🔑 Security & Responsibility

  • Always lock both doors when leaving the house (very important)
  • A key can be provided for longer stays
  • Lost key → liability lies with the guest

👉 Liability insurance is recommended

🍽 Kitchen – Shared Space

The kitchen is our central place of life.

  • Please leave it cleaner than you found it (or at least equally clean)

👉 “Clean” means:

  • Wipe down surfaces
  • Clean the stove with a damp cloth and dry it afterwards (no streaks!)
  • Leave the sink clean

Dishwasher:

  • full → start it
  • clean → empty it

Food:

  • Without a name → for everyone
  • With a name → private
  • Personal shelves possible for longer stays
  • Outdoor fridge is freely usable

👉 If something is empty → please let us know

Community:

  • Helping with cooking is very welcome
  • We also appreciate being cooked for 😊

💰 Contribution – Fair & Flexible

  • Guideline: 5–10 € per day
  • Covers: electricity, water, food, waste, everyday items

👉 Important:

  • We do not run after anyone
  • We expect personal responsibility and honesty

👉 If your budget is smaller:

  • Please talk to us openly

👉 Appreciation can also look different:

  • Shopping
  • Helping out
  • Small contributions in daily life

🧺 Household – We Do It Together

  • Contributing to household tasks is part of living together
  • Cleaning schedule available as guidance
  • Separate waste and take it out
  • Glass/paper can also be disposed of

🌿 Garden & Outdoor Area

  • Keep things tidy
  • Put away seat cushions in the evening
  • Clean up toys

Pool:

  • Use only after instruction
  • Always close the cover in the evening (safety!)

If we are not there:

  • Water plants and vegetables if needed

🚗 Parking

  • Park in a way that does not block any driveways

🌐 Internet

  • Wi-Fi available
  • During online sessions → no streaming please
  • Password will be provided

🔇 Quiet & Consideration

  • Quiet hours from 10 p.m.
  • The house is very sound-sensitive

Phone Calls:

  • Normal conversations are fine
  • Preferably in your own room

Kitchen (morning & evening):

  • Coffee etc. in the morning is fine
→ please close the kitchen door
  • Evening use is okay → with awareness of noise

Singing/Humming:

  • Allowed if no one is disturbed

Smells:

  • Please do not wear perfume in the house
  • Less is more, especially with deodorant (baking soda can be a good alternative)

🧺 Laundry

  • Use after instruction
  • In summer, please dry laundry in the garden (no dryer)

🚭 Alcohol, Smoking & Drugs

  • Smoking only outside
  • Alcohol:
    • occasionally okay
    • no excessive drinking
  • No drugs

👥 Visitors

  • Visitors are allowed – please coordinate with us in advance

💑 Living Arrangements & Order

  • Unmarried couples sleep separately
  • No overnight stays in the same room or floor

👉 Additionally:

  • We aim for a calm and fitting house community
  • Usually either women only or men only

📦 Mail & Packages

  • Packages can be ordered
  • Please take responsibility for receiving them
  • Mail not collected after 6 weeks will be disposed of

⏳ Length of Stay & Living Together

  • After 1 week, there will be a check-in together
→ Does it work for everyone?

👉 Guiding principle:
Healthy community also means sensing when it is time to move on.
